History:
Leon's life as a child was warm and full of happiness and family. He lived with his mother and father and two older brothers. His mom and dad were from Puerto Rico. Leon was the first of their children born on American Soil. They weren't wealthy nor did they live in a very safe place, but Leon was happy. He grew up loved though with a bit of pressure to do better than his parents.
Life in the poorer areas of LA grew harder and he lost both his brothers to gang violence by the time he was 13. He saw more and more violence and gangs as his friends grew older. He learned that for kids like him, there weren't as many opportunities and the gangs gave that. Only he refused to join the gangs. Instead, he wanted to do something about it. He wanted to make it so that no more older brothers of friends died in gangland shootings. At the age of 14, he decided when he grew up, he would become a police officer.
Everything he did from that point was for that. He studied hard and he joined a gym that did amatuer MMA fighting. He would shadow the police officers that didn't dare step foot into his neighborhoods and sometimes left anonymous tips. Each arrest he helped with made him feel like he had done something good. Something to better his neighborhood. He was hooked.
Leon graduated high school, something very few of his peers did. He couldn't afford to go to college. Instead, he enlisted. He spent 5 years in the Marines before returning to LA to go to college.
In college, he met the love of his life. Katie was everything he ever wanted in a woman and as soon as they graduated, he married her. He married her and applied for his dream job at the Los Angeles Police Department. With his degree and his time in the Marines, he was readily accepted into police academy. He passed with flying colors.
He and his young wife lived a simple happy life. He worked a lot though. More than a lot and it became a bone of contention. That got worse as he was given an old case that had yet to be solved. He became obsessed with it. As he focused more and more on the case (dealing with gangs and the mafia and hinting at corruption), he spent less and less time with her. His every waking hour not on the job was spent pouring over old information. He worked very hard to uncover information that had gotten everyone who had ever been given this case killed.
His wife grew angry and bitter at him for his neglect. But it only grew worse as he rose in the ranks for his hard work and flawless record. He was given a new assignment as an undercover officer. This was the last straw for Katie and one day he came home to find her and all their stuff gone. She left him.
Without his wife to come home to, Leon threw himself even deeper into work and deeper into his cover identity. His mission is to infiltrate the Latin Kings and discover what sort of operations they are doing. He has now been at it for two years. When he is not with the Kings, he is still working that first cold case. He feels that he just needs a little more and he'll crack the whole thing wide open.
